So, I am really interested in the amount of space we give to cars. Especially in dense Cities with large public transportation networks. Streets used to be considered public spaces, where activities that could harm people were looked down upon. It wasn’t until the advent of the car that’s streets stopped prioritizing people in favor of motor vehicles. But is now the time for change?
Imagine NYC or any other US City. How would public spaces be created or transformed?

This semester I am working with a community group in North Corona, Queens. This community already faces huge challenges, but now they are the hardest hit in NYC during the COVID-19 pandemic. Many of the community members are heath care workers, construction workers, and service industry workers. They are on the front lines of this pandemic. What does this mean for the community? How can I help them in the days, weeks, and months to come.
